Flavours of Fingal County Show, Newbridge House (Saturday 24 & Sunday 25 June)

Flavours of Fingal County Show 2017We’re delighted to announce that Flavours of Fingal County Show is back for 2017 with a new exciting format for visitors. Come along to Flavours of Fingal in Newbridge House & Farm and;

  • Enjoy the fantastic food
  • Learn all about the farm
  • Great fun for the family

We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable and motivated volunteers on Saturday and Sunday to be Ambassadors for this event. Volunteer roles cover all aspects of the event. Full orientation, support and recognition will be provided. Roles open to those aged 16 and over.

There are a wide range of roles at this event and about 100 volunteers will engaged on site:

  • Queue management at ticket sales
  • Support role in livestock / farm area
  • Family Fun Area
  • Walled Garden - Information givers
  • Bus Queue Management
  • Support volunteers to assist with buggys and bags out from main area.
  • Information and map givers

Training will take place beforehand and on site orientation will take place each morning. Hot food and refreshments will be provided and volunteers will get to keep their volunteer uniforms.

Transport
The 33 bus serve Donabate Village. Check dublinbus.ie for your local route. Irish Rail also have a limited number of service that go though Donabate Train Station, check irishrail.ie for details. A limited shuttle service will operate from Fingal County Council Offices out to the Newbridge House & Gardens and will return that evening.

Pets in the Park, Blanchardstown (Sunday 2 July 2017)

Pets in the ParkCome and discover top dogs, curious cats and slithering snakes as Smithfield Square is transformed into a pet lovers paradise! Pets in the City will take place in the Millennium Park, Blanchardstown.

This free, family friendly event promises to be a great day out for animal lovers with a wide range of activities, stalls and entertainment. There will be Dog Agility Workshops and Scruffs Dog Show, where members of the public are invited to enter their own furry friends.

Pet enthusiasts can expect a range of stalls offering great deals on all kinds of animal accessories, grooming products, toys and novelty items as well as the opportunity to avail of micro-chipping and pet health advice. A reptile corner, world of birds and a small animal farm will give visitors the opportunity to interact with, and learn about, all kinds of animals. Pets in the Park is a fantastic day out and offers families the opportunity to bring their pets into the city for a fun and interactive event.

Dublin Rose Festival, Clontarf (Saturday 15 & Sunday 16 July 2017)

Dublin Rose Festival Photo by Eddy CarrollThe Rose Festival takes place in St Anne’s Park, Mount Prospect Avenue, Clontarf on the third weekend of July, annually. The Festival is a mix of food, arts and crafts, music and family fun. It has a seated picnic area in front of the music stage. The festival is open from 10.00 to 18:00 on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 July.

We are looking for experienced Event Volunteers who have attended previous events with us to man our Volunteer Hub where you'll be telling potential new Event Volunteers about our events and encouraging to them to join in our fun and promote the principles of Leave No Trace.

Dublin Fun Fest (Sunday 27 August 2017)

Dublin FunfestDublin Fun Fest is coming to Smithfield Plaza, a family friendly celebration on Sunday 27 August. Brought to you by Dublin City Council, this event offers free entertainment all day long and is the perfect way to spend a summer Sunday with family and friends.

Family Fun Fest will attract visitors from across Ireland and is sure to be an invigorating event from start to finish. There will also be a variety of inflatable games to play with including basketball shoot out, sumo wrestling inflatable ring, bouncy boxing ring, soccer penalty shoot out and giant jenga.

Duties: Event set up - erecting gazebo pop up tents, flags & bunting and signage, laying out crowd control barriers, etc. Event breakdown of above. Arts & crafts tent - 2 volunteers to assist Children's Activities Executive. Stewarding children's obstacle course and General stewarding.

Harvest Festival, Castleknock (Sunday 10 September 2017)

Harvest FestivalHarvest Festival is a new event taking place at the 12th Lock, Royal Canal, Castleknock and is a family friendly celebration. This event offers free entertainment all day and is the perfect way to spend a summer Sunday with family and friends.

There'll be a variety of games to play on the day. Times: set up to breakdown - 08.30 to 17.30

Duties: Event set up - erecting gazebo pop up tents, flags & bunting and signage, laying out crowd control barriers, etc. Event breakdown of above. Arts & crafts tent - 2 volunteers to assist Children's Activities Executive and General stewarding

SSE Airtricity Dublin Race Series, Half Marathon (Saturday 23 September 2017)

Dublin Marathon 2014The SSE Airtricity Dublin Race Half Marathon moves to a new venue this year, Newbridge House, Donabate on .  take place on the Bank Holiday Weekend of Saturday 23 September.  

Volunteer Ireland are recruiting Event Volunteers to work in the Volunteer Hub supporting the registration of volunteers at the event

We are also recruting Event Volunteers to be based in the Volunteer Hub on Race Day close to Newbridge House whose responsibility will be registering volunteers in the designated volunteer hubs for the event.

Busker Fleadh, Smithfield (Sunday 8 October 2017)

Busker FleadhA variety of busking acts from around the country will perform in Smithfield Plaza on Sunday 8 October as part the Busker Fleadh. Organised by Dublin City Council, this free family event showcases the best of independent music and performance in an electrifying atmosphere.

The line up of performers covers a range of genres, ages and nationalities, from folk band Sonnets and Sisters to international acts. Aside from the musical talents, spectators can wander the cobbles of Smithfield and enjoy many street spectacles.

SSE Airtricity Dublin Marathon (Friday 27 - Sunday 29 October 2017)

Dublin Marathon 2014The SSE Airtricity Dublin Marathon 2017 take place on the Bank Holiday Weekend of Sunday 29 October 2017.  Volunteer Ireland are recruiting Event Volunteers to work in the Volunteer Hub supporting the registration of volunteers at the RDS, Ballsbridge on Friday 28 October and Saturday 29 October.  

We are also recruting Event Volunteers to be based in the Volunteer Hub on Race Day, Sunday 29 October close in Start / Finish lines around Fitzwilliam and Merrion Square.

We are recruiting volunteers whose responsibility will be registering volunteers in the designated volunteer hubs for the event. 

There are a number of shifts on Friday and Saturday in the RDS and the same on Sunday so please select a shift that bestThis will be an early start so we offered a variety of shifts for you to sign up to. We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join us to help welcome the main volunteers and enthuse them to do a great job at the start and finish line.

Getting there
As the event commences very early on Sunday morning those on early volunteer shifts will need to make arrangements to get to their choosen location on time as Dublin Bus Services will be running a Sunday timetable and there will be majot interruptions to services.  There is no car parking available around the start / finish line and where possible we'd suggest using Train and Luas services to access the city.
